Patterns have been a part of Akiyo’s life for as long as she can remember. While observing life Akiyo never miss an opportunity to wrap her eyes around a pattern, they jump at her from everywhere. Diving into the waters of henna was a very random occasion for Akiyo. While browsing through a magazine she came across an image of henna painted hands and took an instant liking to it. Later, Akiyo came across a henna kit at a mall and went in head first; indulging the creativity that was flowing within and was awaken by the shapes she saw in the magazine.
Teaching herself how to henna was as if learning a new language, the more vocabulary you have the more fluent you can speak, as more designs you learn the more you can improvise the designs. With that said, Akiyo fully enjoy all aspects of henna: mixing henna paste, the scent of the essential oils and drawing the designs on various parts of the body. The most amazing part of my henna experience has been; being a part of various celebrations and important moments of the people she encounter.
Furthermore, Akiyo‘s fashion design background comes very useful in her henna practice. She is able to use her vision to create designs that compliment the body and bridal couture. Akiyo consult bridal clients with this in mind and my suggestions of designs inspired by their bridal gowns and jewelry selections have returned with tremendous success. Akiyo believe what differentiates her services from other henna artists is her fashion and textile design backgrounds, which allows her to create designs that will accent her clients’ natural beauty and style.
Over the last 8 years Akiyo have continuously explored with design, ideas and innovative approach to body art and thus emerged “Luxe Glow”, her latest exquisite creation. Luxe Glow is a wonderful elevation of her henna services and only a mere departure from its roots. “Luxe glow” is luxurious and fashionable party and bridal ornamental body art. She has used it on Indian brides that were at awe from the results and the seeming effect of wearing jewelry directly on the skin.
Akiyo draw inspirations for her creations from her clients, and continue to explore ways to adorn the body. But most importantly Akiyo strive to create to make woman feel beautiful, strong inside and out.
